Core strength will look after your body as it ages, so it’s well worth working towards a strong muscular girdle right now, whatever your age! To help accomplish that, here’s a great little ab routine which aims to target all your abdominals muscles and give your whole core a serious punishing! It’s been a while since I wrote about training abs and I thought this cheeky routine was worth sharing, as it requires no weights or gym equipment; it’s perfect to bust out in the living room, garden or local park whilst enjoying this stunning weather! It’s not overly complicated but when done correctly it’s devastatingly effective! Dispatch the 4 exercises back to back. Then have a 1 minute break and do it all over again! 4 rounds should do the trick!

I recently visited The Grove Hotel in Hertfordshire for a friend’s wedding, and after the festivities were over, quickly found myself wandering the vast countryside grounds which are home to a perfectly manicured, internationally renowned championship golf course. The modern day human spends an disproportionate amount of time seated; at a desk, in a car, by the computer or watching TV at home. Often, this means slumped shoulders, a curved neck, and generally ‘weak posture’… and then eventually, the scourge of ageing Britain, back pain. Whilst some muscles will naturally grow tighter and others weaker, there are exercises and stretches you can perform to encourage a stronger core. The word ‘core’ mainly describes the central band of the torso, and the purpose of training it, is to encourage better support and protection for the load-bearing joints in and around the back. WARM UP THE COLD SHOULDER !!!
Shoulders that are sculpted and beautifully proportioned can look phenomenal on both women and men – they help to make the stature look more imposing by giving the illusion of a narrower waist and broader top. For women especially, great shoulders can create a fantastic balance between the hips (lower body) and the rest of the upper torso, accentuating curves to promote the ‘hourglass’ shape.
