QUORN BOLOGNESE !

Fitness On Toast Faya Blog Girl Healthy Recipe Food Quorn Bolognese Meal Low Fat Diet Healthier Lighter Light Protein-9

Spaghetti Bolognese remains a firm favourite dish the world over, but it’s one that we secretly know can’t possibly be that healthy. The reality is a seriously calorific event, often loaded with salt and high in fats (and not the healthy avocado-esque kinds). As part of my ongoing collaboration with Quorn, I’ve created a version that you can consider a far healthier alternative. As I’m a pescatarian (fish, but no meat) I’ve always used products like Quorn Meat-free Mince as a high-protein, low-saturated-fat source of nutrition – something I personally consider to be a key part of any healthy diet. WORLD MEAT FREE DAY!

FITNESS ON TOAST FAYA BLOG GIRL HEALTHY RECIPE QUORN WORLD MEAT FREE DAY RECIPE IDEA BOATS-4

Monday the 15th June marks World Meat Free Day which encourages people around the world to go meat-free for just one day. To my mind, it’s about recognising the importance of protein in our diets, and perhaps seeking out other ways in which to source your protein. As part of my Ambassadorship for Quorn, I created this cute little ‘Quorn Boats’ dish, which seemed totally appropriate for the occasion. As always with my recipes, it’s supposed to be quick, easy and healthy. Quorn is an excellent source of protein and this is a great little meal to consume post-workout to help repair muscles, or indeed to entertain friends with on the canapé platter! It’ll keep you fuller for longer and hopefully keep you from snacking too often. ‘QUORN FATTOUSH SALAD’ RECIPE !!!

Fitness On Toast Faya Blog Girl Healthy Recipe Nutrition Quorn Protein Collaboration Fatoush Salad Main-21

I recently enjoyed an awesome day of shooting with my friends at Quorn Foods in a super-cool Shoreditch loft, which housed the most gorgeous, bright-and-airy kitchen I’ve ever seen – the dream! It was part of our collaboration to come up with some healthy recipes featuring their meat free products; a sort of ‘Cooking with Faya’ event, where I had the opportunity to whip up my latest healthy green salad recipe, the Quorn Fattoush Salad. As a pescatarian (fish, but no meat) I’ve always used products like Quorn Meat-free Chicken pieces as a high-protein, low-saturated-fat source of nutrition – something I personally consider to be a key part of any healthy diet. This recipe is super quick and easy-to-make, requiring no more than 15-20 mins of your precious time (max!) – depending how quickly you chop and toss the salad! ‘QUORN CHICKEN KORMA’ RECIPE !!!

Fitness On Toast Faya Blog Girl Healthy Exercise Nutrition Recipe Quorn Chicken Dish Pieces Calorie Protein Lean Low Fat Diet Detox Tasty-2

Today, I’m super excited to announce a collaboration with Quorn, who have asked me to create a series of tasty recipes on my blog using their products! Being a Pescetarian myself (that’s fish, but no meat) I’ve previously cooked with their meat free mince in my recipes (most recently HERE), as I’ve always liked it as a high-protein, low-saturated-fat source of nutrition – something I personally consider a key pillar of any healthy diet. Their products make up a regular component of my weekly shop, so I was only too happy to work with them on this project! Quorn are sponsoring me to produce these dishes with their products, and I’ve decided to accept the challenge, starting with this healthy ‘Quorn Chicken Korma’ which is super quick and easy to prepare, and which tastes utterly delicious (if I do say so myself)! MY ‘CHILLI CON QUORN-E’ RECIPE !!!

Fitness On Toast Faya Blog Girl Recipe Nutrition Healthy Health Diet Nutritious Tasty Clean Eating Meal Chile Con Carne Quorn Sweet Potato Light Lighter lower calorie fat natural organic training workout meals high protein complex carb

Last week I hosted a gritty and gruelling training session for my friends at Under Armour HQ to help launch their new A/W collection; ‘mission accomplished’ called for some celebrations! Now, since I hadn’t had the chance to eat my regular meals all day, and since I found myself next to a table that was generously overflowing with irresistible crisps, chips and dips, I sampled some (for essential electrolyte replenishment only, you understand… ahem). What really fascinated me though, was that the very next day, I had an overwhelming craving for more of the same, right out of the blue! Which got me thinking about a healthy alternative that could tick that crucial ‘craving’ box! The solution? My ‘dipping Chilli con Quorn-e’ dish can be eaten totally remotely from any guilt or reservations – it’s super healthy, all natural, quick and easy and I think it’s pretty yummy too! This post is all about the how-to and why

REALLY QUORNY !!!

Spaghetti Bolognese – a classic  favourite, but one we all know just can’t be all that healthy. In fact, it’s really quite calorific, often packed with salt and dripping in fat (and not necessarily the healthy kind). The ultimate word on all things calorific, MyFitnessPal suggests 35g of fat and 520 calories in a medium sized portion of spaghetti bolognese, and that’s without the industrially grated cheese on top! To access that classic taste and texture, whilst still being friendly to your quest for abs, here’s my healthier alternative.

Quorn! Once a bit weird, hippy and almost taboo, it’s now pretty mainstream as a healthy alternative to meat. But it’s not actually meat; it’s part of the fungi family. The main ingredient is ‘mycoprotein’, a fungal spore, grown by fermentation, much like the process used in the production of yoghurt, bread and beer. Quorn ‘mince’ is low in fat (1.9g per 100g) and high in protein (14.5g per 100g) & packed with dietary fibre (22% of your GDA in 100g). In short, it’s a lean alternative to minced beef, at just 90 calories per 100g.
