Happy New Year, my good reader! Hitting a plateau can be super confusing because you probably don’t know what’s causing it. The sorts of questions swirling around your mind are likely; am I not training enough, am I training too much, am I training the wrong way, in the wrong place, with the wrong people, wearing the wrong clothes, listening to the wrong music (etc.)? Well fear not, dear 2019-ready reader, for this post contains my top 7 simple tips to help you to break through that training plateau! THE RAW POWER OF 3 !!!

fitness-on-toast-faya-fit-in-3-amazon-pre-order-blog-girl-healthy-workout-recipe-nutrition-mindfulness-sustainable-diet-lifetime-lifestyle-7-2

What is my book ’FIT IN 3’ all about, and why did I call it that anyway? It’s a fundamental realization I had over 10 years of working in the fitness industry, every day. This post will give you a little teaser of the power of 3; despite what the fitness industry would have you believe, there’s no magic formula, there need be no expensive products to buy into, no supplements, no starvation diets, and no demonisation. It is the ultimate in simplicity, inclusiveness, balance, mix and fun. It’s not a ‘system’, but it is knowledge, an entire approach, and the only book you’ll need to lead a realistic, sustainable healthy life. You can pre-order your copy right HERE and I’ve added some sneak-peak pages inside the book too, to give you a flavor of some of the delicious, Scandi-inspired healthy recipes!

BEHIND THE SCENES – HOW TO WRITE YOUR BOOK !!!

fitness-on-toast-faya-blog-book-girl-fit-in-3-little-brown-behind-the-scenes-bts-london-capital-thames-skyline-view-panoramic-18

Cards on the table; I wasn’t born an author, and despite these bloggish scribblings, the thought of writing a book hadn’t even occurred on a post-hypnotic, unconscious, or inebriated level! The journey to writing my book Fit In 3: The Scandi Plan [it’s out on dec 29th, it would mean the world if you pre-order a copy!] was a grueling marathon of soaring highs and gloomy lows, and certainly one of the most intense challenges of my life. I can confidently say that I’ve thrown everything at it, and left nothing on the table – the book is 100% of me! But if, like me, you’ve never seen this mysterious process from behind-the-scenes before, you might also have casually assumed that these tomes magically appear, fully-formed, on shop shelves one day, conjured by the book-fairy, never paying thought to the dozens of people’s time, attention, grind, detail, and professionalism that goes into it. But much like writing a blog [which to the reader, can look like one macaroon-punctuated holiday after the next, but requires relentless toil], a book is a gigantic effort employing dozens of world-class talents, all working to fold their very best work into this little, printed package on a shelf! This blog post lifts the lid on the whole hidden process, shows you exactly what I went through, and might give you some thoughts on how to go about your own book! If you’re curious, read on! If you doubt it, read on! If you hate it, perhaps read on anyway! And if you think it’s easy, think again ! Faya x  (more…)

POST-XMAS REBOOT SALAD!

Fitness On Toast Faya Blog Girl Healthy Workout Receipe Food Nutrition Idea Meal Brussel Sprout Festive Salad Reboot Diet Health-3

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Christmas! It may have been an indulgent one (rightly so!) but there comes a time to re-focus, transition off the mince pies, and to re-establish health-mode. I’m guessing there are a few surplus Brussel sprouts knocking about at present (either in your fridge or at the supermarket); this ‘Sprout, Apple & Barley Salad‘ is an explosion of colour and taste which happens to take advantage of these little Christmassy miracle orbs! Brussel Sprouts are super healthy (ultra-low GI, almost calorie-free, low in saturated fat, cholesterol-lowering properties, a very good source of dietary fibre & most vitamins like A, C, K, B6). They’ve also been the subject of dozens of prominent research studies into their anti-carcinogenic properties. This is a delicious and easy-to-make salad which can be enjoyed anytime of the year, either hot or cold, but is a particularly good transition now the xmas glut is over! ASIAN PRAWN SOUP RECIPE !!!

Time for a recipe I think, and whilst this healthy Asian Prawn Soup may at first appear long and complicated, once you’ve done it you’ll see how straightforward and quick it is! You’re making your own super flavoursome broth, which I think is a great skill to have as it eliminates the need to rely on heavy sauces or salty stocks to flavour a dish. I love Asian-inspired recipes precisely because they’re always bursting with flavours; this Prawn soup makes use of fresh herbs to give it that rich flavour. You may have read my previous post about the multiple health benefits to be gained from eating fresh herbs and spices in your diet. This recipe, which coincides with a little feature I put together for styld.by yesterday, maxes out on taste, whilst packing fewer calories and more nutritional value. READ MORE

As a response to a recent email, I’m going to start showcasing some of the gorgeous places to exercise in the truly special city that is London! Today, I’m starting with one of my absolute favourites, the stunning Hampstead Heath. It’s an epic park which finds itself a mere 6km away from the gridlocked traffic of Trafalgar Square -but you’d barely believe it was the same country! To my mind, this is the ultimate escapist parkland 🙂 This post also coincides with a little feature I put together for Gap over on their styld.by site yesterday – super exciting, check it out!
