So the 25th has come and gone, but the Christmas break isn’t quite over yet! I’m still enjoying the festive holidays, lounging around with friends and family, so I like to wear something comfortable for the occasion. The way I feel right now has inspired (more…)

GETTING SWEATY WITH BETTY – SS14 BLOGGER PREVIEW
This week I was invited to attend the SS14 blogger/press preview day of one of my favourite sports apparel brands, Sweaty Betty. Here’s a short post with some pictures from the event; I’m very excited to see the full collection in store! I loved some of the inspiration, especially the marine / nautical feel running through most of the collection, which really chimed with me as it had quite a Swedish feel to it! The outfit above was a combination of my favourite pieces from SS14; the materials are just impossibly soft! Thanks Sweaty Betty 🙂 Faya x
MY PICNIC POWER-SALAD !!!
In a rare turn of fate, London is experiencing a very long summer (6 days in a row). To celebrate this unlikely occurrence, it was high time for a little picnic in the park, and for the occasion I decided to make my nutritious ‘Quinoa, Rainbow Trout & Pomegranite salad‘ which I think was a smash hit given the empty plates! The salad is pretty straight forward to make and only takes c. 30 minutes to make from start to finish, (or c .15 minutes excluding the time it takes for the quinoa to cook and fish to bake) and serves a sociable party of 6. All-in, 100g of the salad provides c. 31g of high quality protein, and c. 280 healthy calories. I often use Quinoa in my recipes, as it tastes just a good cold in a salad as a it does steaming hot with Tuna. It’s a super-seed which provides all 9 essential amino acids (making it a complete protein). Along with the fish and beans / pulses, this dish makes for a protein rich salad packed with vitamins and minerals as well as slow releasing carb-energy. The Pomegranate may seem a bit “out-there” but I personally love the surprising texture and sweetness it adds to the dish – super summery!

WHO YOU CALLING SWEATY, BETTY ?!?
Whilst we’re on the topic of fitness fashion, I am a big fan of the British acitve-wear brand, Sweaty Betty, and often find myself scooping-up entire training outfits there when I was just planning on an innocent browse. I’ve always been particularly taken by their ‘yoga’ range, because the clothes are so incredibly relaxed, the fit is flattering and the materials are usually super comfy – great for either lounging around or being active. Also, their ‘workout wear’ (which I’m wearing in these photos, shot for a Facebook banner) is very functional too, with summery, fun bright colours & prints that aren’t too garish to actually wear! Its a feminine-looking range of clothes, with technical materials that I think justifies their slightly premium price-point.
I know new outfits can encourage me to go to the gym if I’m lacking motivation to train; it’s not a catwalk but you are allowed to look and feel good at the gym, plus dedicated training gear can often be designed to enhance your performance (e.g. oxygenating / breathable / moisture-wicking fabrics etc.) – though that’s also just a good excuse to go shopping 🙂
