WHY TO START TRAINING – NOW !!!
Amidst the snowy deluge of a brutally frosted British December, Summer is but a moribund memory, seemingly belonging to a different planet (or Sydney in the case of my shots here!). Bikinis and/or trunks are consigned to a forgotten section of the wardrobe and instead, it’s acceptable to hide under countless layers of knitted misc. The commercialized ‘beach body’ frenzy is over; we feel as though we can relax, without the pressure to get naked! It’s also a time when we naturally eat and/or drink a little more than we otherwise would; t’is festive season leading up to Christmas…
For that reason, I say TRAIN NOW; this way whatever excess you’re consuming, at least you’re burning it off at the gym! Furthermore, you’re establishing a fitness routine now rather than leaving it to January, when going cold turkey will feel like a tragic uphill struggle. By the time the equally commercialized ‘new year new you’ fallacy comes around, you’ll already have a strong, regular thing going on; new year, same you! BTW, I don’t subscribe to the January frenzy, instead I believe healthy is a lifestyle choice all year round! This post contains a few 101 tips to get started, right now!
POST-XMAS REBOOT SALAD!
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Christmas! It may have been an indulgent one (rightly so!) but there comes a time to re-focus, transition off the mince pies, and to re-establish health-mode. I’m guessing there are a few surplus Brussel sprouts knocking about at present (either in your fridge or at the supermarket); this ‘Sprout, Apple & Barley Salad‘ is an explosion of colour and taste which happens to take advantage of these little Christmassy miracle orbs! Brussel Sprouts are super healthy (ultra-low GI, almost calorie-free, low in saturated fat, cholesterol-lowering properties, a very good source of dietary fibre & most vitamins like A, C, K, B6). They’ve also been the subject of dozens of prominent research studies into their anti-carcinogenic properties. This is a delicious and easy-to-make salad which can be enjoyed anytime of the year, either hot or cold, but is a particularly good transition now the xmas glut is over! SAVOURING CHRISTMAS !!!
Merry Christmas to you! I went for my Xmas morning brisk walk on a gloriously sunny Primrose Hill today (click MORE to see all the pics). Savour it, and then get ready to hit it hard tomorrow! Post-indulgence workout tips-and-tricks to follow soon. Faya xx

MY HEALTHY CHRISTMAS DINNER !!!
Christmas is infamous for overeating indulgent sugary, fattening foods. This post is my attempt at a healthier alternative – it’s a tour-de-force of the same foods but with a bit of a lighter twist. Perhaps you can just pick and choose a few ideas from it, and as you can see from the picture above, ‘healthier’ needn’t look any less inviting and ‘Christmassy’ 🙂 ! NEW GEAR – THANKS SANTA !!!
Xmas morning, preparing for a day of festive eating, so decided on a quick 30 minute skip and stretch, whilst trying out my new all-singing all dancing training clothes. They’re from a shop that’s only just opened up in London (right by Sloane Square), called Lululemon Athletica who are huge in America, and their clothes are perfect for what I want; comfy, fitted, breathable, 4-way stretch etc. I absolutely love the company’s look – feminine, sporty and still very practical, which I find pretty rare in training clothes. Click ‘more’ to see what I’m wearing. Merry Christmas everyone! Faya x
