Today, I’m super excited to announce a collaboration with Quorn, who have asked me to create a series of tasty recipes on my blog using their products! Being a Pescetarian myself (that’s fish, but no meat) I’ve previously cooked with their meat free mince in my recipes (most recently HERE), as I’ve always liked it as a high-protein, low-saturated-fat source of nutrition – something I personally consider a key pillar of any healthy diet. Their products make up a regular component of my weekly shop, so I was only too happy to work with them on this project! Quorn are sponsoring me to produce these dishes with their products, and I’ve decided to accept the challenge, starting with this healthy ‘Quorn Chicken Korma’ which is super quick and easy to prepare, and which tastes utterly delicious (if I do say so myself)! HEALTHY WINTER CHOCOLATE TREATS !!!
The realities of winter (and shockingly, Christmas) are already upon us, and the lead up to year-end can be a dangerous time; daily festive parties laden with temptation, overflowing with delicious drinks, delectable mince pies, all sorts of irresistible treats… it’s admittedly hard to stay on the straight and narrow. Regular readers of FitnessOnToast will know that I, like most normal red-blooded humans, have a proper sweet tooth – and therefore in an attempt to keep the cravings at bay (for me and hopefully you too), here’s a quick, easy and healthy and nutritious dessert treat; my ‘Banana & Dark Chocolate Snowy Bites’! For some of you, you’ll be happy to hear this also works really well with protein powder. (more…)
MY ‘CHILLI CON QUORN-E’ RECIPE !!!
Last week I hosted a gritty and gruelling training session for my friends at Under Armour HQ to help launch their new A/W collection; ‘mission accomplished’ called for some celebrations! Now, since I hadn’t had the chance to eat my regular meals all day, and since I found myself next to a table that was generously overflowing with irresistible crisps, chips and dips, I sampled some (for essential electrolyte replenishment only, you understand… ahem). What really fascinated me though, was that the very next day, I had an overwhelming craving for more of the same, right out of the blue! Which got me thinking about a healthy alternative that could tick that crucial ‘craving’ box! The solution? My ‘dipping Chilli con Quorn-e’ dish can be eaten totally remotely from any guilt or reservations – it’s super healthy, all natural, quick and easy and I think it’s pretty yummy too! This post is all about the how-to and why…
WALK THE PLANK !!!
The modern day human spends an disproportionate amount of time seated; at a desk, in a car, by the computer or watching TV at home. Often, this means slumped shoulders, a curved neck, and generally ‘weak posture’… and then eventually, the scourge of ageing Britain, back pain. Whilst some muscles will naturally grow tighter and others weaker, there are exercises and stretches you can perform to encourage a stronger core. The word ‘core’ mainly describes the central band of the torso, and the purpose of training it, is to encourage better support and protection for the load-bearing joints in and around the back. Almost every move the body makes relies on the core – balance, running, reaching, lifting, kicking. Therefore it’s crucial to build and maintain well-conditioned core strength. This post is about doing exactly that! Read MORE to see 4 flavours of plank…
BJORN TO BE WILD !!!
Being a [patriotic] half-Swede, I’m a bit of a ‘home-crowd’ for the fitness fashion brand Björn Borg, which I featured on my blog trip to Morroco earlier this year. With that in mind, I was elated to receive an invite to the label’s SS15 fashion show in collaboration with the eponymous ‘Creative Show Director’ Bea Åkerlund (stylist to the likes of Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Madonna and Fergie) and their own head designer James Lee. I hopped on a plane with a smattering of journalists and a couple of hours later we were checking in to Stockholm’s Berns – the city’s core hotel/club/hub for fashionistas, models, bloggers and designers for the week, it would seem. This post is a little round-up of what I found behind the scenes, my thoughts about their collection, and my interview with their designer James Lee!

FITNESS ON VOGUE !!!
I’m so thrilled to say that I’ve been featured as one of Teen Vogue’s “8 fitness and health bloggers you need to know“! The Vogue brand is such an inspiration to so many around the world, including myself, and to be mentioned in it (especially in the Teen edition) is enormously flattering, and a bit of a dream really 🙂 (more…)
MEET YOUR MATCHA (GREEN TEA) !!!
As regular readers of FitnessOnToast will know, I love my green tea for so many reasons (metabolism-speeding, anti-carcinogenic, antioxidant-loaded, packed with vitamins & minerals etc), but above all else, for being a wonderfully warming, calming, natural ‘pick me up’. It contains materially less caffeine than its big brother (coffee), and it’s actively hydrating whilst coffee delivers the opposite result. This post focuses on the ‘superfood’ variety of green tea, called matcha, which is part of a 900-year old Japanese tea ceremony, and is an even older Buddhist monk ‘pro plus’-equivalent! It’s far stronger than normal green tea because you end up drinking the entire leaf rather than just a cup of pigment-coloured teabag water…
FEELING SPORTY, LOOKING SLOUCHY !!!
So the 25th has come and gone, but the Christmas break isn’t quite over yet! I’m still enjoying the festive holidays, lounging around with friends and family, so I like to wear something comfortable for the occasion. The way I feel right now has inspired (more…)
GRUELLING WORKOUT WITH UNDER ARMOUR !!!
This week, I was invited to train with the US sportswear brand Under Armour in one of their ‘Urban Gym’ sessions; I was warned to expect a host of brutal, gritty training stations to tackle whilst using some innovative training kit. The event took place underneath Southbank’s iconic Golden Jubilee Bridge in the heart of London – an amazing location! So this post breaks down into 3 neat sections; 1 – ‘the workout’, 2 – ‘the gear’ and 3 – ‘the philosophy bit!!!’. click MORE to get the lowdown… (more…)
