Whether you’re travelling for personal holiday or business meetings, I’ve always felt that the deck was stacked against you in your fight to stay healthy; tempting artificial foods conveniently in front of you, poor gym facilities putting you off your session, tough work interrupting your precious sleep… it’s often hard to come home in the same shape you left! One of the key reasons I was so excited to commercially partner with Westin was their ’Wellbeing Movement’ ideology, which is based on six pillars of Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well, Feel Well, Work Well and Play Well. If you travel to one of the 200+ Westins, you should be comfortable that you’re able to emerge healthier than when you arrived. I travelled to the Westin Vendome in the heart of Paris to illustrate them more clearly!
1 – SLEEP WELL
I’ve made no secret of the importance of proper sleep on this blog. It enhances muscle recovery, restores & maintains mental alertness, releases Human Growth Hormone so you can recover, revives organs, bones, and tissue, replenishes immune cells, and massively improves the quality of interaction with other people! Westin rooms are set up to maximise your restorative sleep, with a ‘Heavenly Bed’, crisp white 250-thread count linens, a special sleep-well menu which promotes rest, and even a plush doggy bed for your little canine friend too!
2 – EAT WELL
Nourishing your body with the finest quality superfoods available is a mainstay of the recipes I try to whip up on
Fitness On Toast. Westin have a nutritionist-led partnership with SuperFoodsRx and have created a nutritionally balanced, super healthy menu for all their hotels, complemented by a suite of revitalising juices curated by The Juicery. Below I’ve chosen the Tofu Caprese, Steamed Seabass with Japanese Vegetable Salad, the Grilled Salmon and a component from the Eat Well menu – the egg white omelette with a little goats cheese and spinach.
3 – MOVE WELL
The facility to train wherever you are should be a given, to my mind! You might not have packed your kit, but Westin will fit you out with a fresh New Balance training outfit for just EUR5, host you in a high-end equipped fitness facility, or even get the Run Concierge to pick you a scenic route around the city! If you want more privacy, there are even some bedrooms with workout equipment installed so you don’t have far to go for the post-workout shower! It’s all designed to be hassle free and lower the barriers to you sticking to your healthy goals!
4 – FEEL WELL
‘Spa time’ goes hand in hand with any trip abroad, to my mind. That sensational restored-and-unwound feeling is on hand at the Westin, whether its the White Tea Aloe bath amenities, the extra fluffy robes, the rain-water shower, or the hotels Heavenly Spa.
5 – WORK WELL
Whilst you might not see the ‘work’ side of blogging, it happens; everywhere, and that includes holidays 🙂 For that reason, I find it super important to have a proper workstation where my mind feels un-cluttered, and I have all the technical facilities at my disposal to get the post compiled. Westins deliver me a properly equipped business centre with super-fast wifi, a comfy ergonomic chair and all the chargers I’ll need, so that I’ve got an office in almost every country!
6 – PLAY WELL
It’s no life without balance, which includes some creature comforts! A late breakfast, late checkout, discovering the cities curated by the Concierge (and in some cases, a Weekend Escape tailored by me!), or even a full on Westin Wellness Escape package.
