FRESH SUMMER JUICE ???

I was recently invited to juice master Jason Vale‘s film premiere in Leicester Square, where I got the opportunity to sample his latest creation, Super Juice Me… In the docu-film, 8 chronically ill individuals go to live in a Portuguese retreat and subsist on Jason’s juice concoctions; through juicing, they try to tackle their ailments and improve their quality of life. It’s a fascinating film, and was very much an inspiring day, which got me fired up to make two of his quite delicious recipes – ‘The Berry Crunch’ (sumptuously sweet and perfect for someone with a little bit of a sweet tooth, like me perhaps) and ‘The Natural Energiser’ (a refreshingly zesty power-elixir to wake you up with a bolt!). I do love the concept of fresh juicing – a focussed way to give your system a direct shot of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, plant-based protein and fibre without the body having to work hard at breaking it down. It also boosts energy and immune levels, and I’ve found it can leaving the skin glowing. I tend to opt for low-GI plants and fruits such as spinach, cucumber, kale and berries, as juices deliver sugars straight to your bloodstream, so make it as hard as possible for the body to break them down. Also, I’d suggest sipping them through a straw preferably – it’s far better for your teeth.

Here’s my FULL TAKE on the Juice Diet that I tried in January of this year.

I hope you enjoy them both! Faya x
